2012 Indie Blog Review
When I started this blog in August 2011 I had no idea what I was doing. I had just released my first fiction novel, “Secrets & Lies” so my first thought was to use it to create a home-base for book promotions, (my books), with the hopes of starting a place to build my brand. It took me less than six months to realize that I needed to do something more. Sure, self-promotion is a good thing, in moderation, I learned, so within that first year I decided to reach out to other indie authors, who like me, were just trying to find a way to gain attention to our work without beating people over the head with the same information every day. Once the idea was set in place I reached out thru my new social media outlets, (Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, etc…) and brought in a few of my indie author friends to guest post about their books, events, and anything else they wanted to promote. Hence the title: “Let’s Talk About Books.”
Since then not only have I been able to read, review, and showcase some amazing authors, indie & traditional, I have also made some very good friends. Because of these super talented people, I am happy to have found the perfect place for my blog. Being a full-time supporter for Indie Authors (and others) has been the best for me in this past year. Though I started a little late, and yes – I’m still in the learning stage, it has been my pleasure to host at least two major author events, a couple of blog hops, cover reveals, and personal interviews, all of which has brought me a wonderful collection of blogger awards and a growing number of friends, fans, and colleagues. What more could I ask for? Not a thing. For someone who didn’t have a clue as to what they were doing, I am thankful to know that I learned to do something worthwhile. Not just for myself, but also for the numerous others out there who just need a chance to be noticed.
So, what are my plans for the new year? Well, I have a few ideas. Though author support is my main objective, I am hoping to showcase more talent in film, screenwriting, musicians, artists, bloggers, almost anyone working to make a name for themselves in the arts. As for myself, I have more novels and short stories to write and I am considering to venture into adapting more of my work for film. As this new year moves along this blog may be in for a name change, but for now, talking about books and the people who write them is my number one thing.
And speaking of talented authors… In closing, I would like to share a group photo of a few of the best in indie & traditional publishing whom I got to know in this past year. Some you may already know of and some are the best yet to come. All good people from around the world and back. :o)
Big hugs and much love to everyone. I couldn’t have done this without you.
