The two wildcats transformed as soon as the door closed behind Kim. The space once occupied by the caracals now held a set of twins. The two women were identical in every way down to the last calico colored hair.
“Why did you not kill her while you had the chance?”
Harold brushed his bottom lip with the pad of his finger, lost in his own thoughts as he answered Angela’s question. “There has always been something about that one,” he mused aloud.
“You only wish to enjoy her body,” Bronwyn spat out, sounding jealous.
A fleeting smile touched his lips as he pictured Kim’s delicious body, but he waved it away. “No. She is perfection, of course, but I am intrigued. That is a feeling I have not encountered in years.”
“Intrigued by a new pussy,” Bronwyn muttered.
In a flash of motion, too quick to be witnessed by the human eye, Harold slammed Bronwyn’s body against the wall pinning her there as he squeezed her throat. Her feet dangled six inches from the floor and tears sprang to her eyes as he tightened his grip. He held her weight with one hand as if she were no more than a doll. She scratched at his arm as she fought against his hold but it was useless. He stared hard into her eyes until he was sure that she understood the precariousness of her situation. “Do you forget your place?” He did not bother to loosen his grip and allow her to speak because he did not need to hear her answer. Her life was meaningless to him, and she only held onto it by his grace. Leaning forward he pressed his nose to her throat inhaling her scent deep into his lungs. “Do you fear for your life?” Without waiting for her answer, he added. “You should, because it means nothing. You are a mere plaything, but she is a friend.” Without warning, he bit into her neck tearing through the skin until the copper taste of blood touched his tongue. The bitter taste of taint disgusted him and deepened his anger. Two-thousand years of bitterness well up inside of him rising to the surface until he ripped through Bronwyn’s artery in his rage. Releasing his grip, Harold allowed Bronwyn’s body to fall and he stared down at her lifeless body unable to feel an ounce of remorse. Two-thousand years she served him, and he could not feel a thing. The sound of Angela’s sobs broke through the haze of his fury. She sat huddled in the corner, covering her mouth with both hands, in an attempt to stifle her cries. Sweeping the back of his hand across his mouth, Harold attempted in vain to wipe away Bronwyn’s blood. “Get a broom and sweep this up,” he told Angela, as he stepped over Bronwyn’s rapidly disappearing body. Feeling as if he had made his point, he snagged the bags of blood as he walked past, confident Angela would keep her opinions to herself.
